Women’s Empowerment Act Marks New Era: Dr. Alka

Udaipur, April 13: Press conferences were held across Rajasthan on Sunday to discuss the Nari Shakti Vandan Act, which aims to enhance women’s representation in politics. The event in Udaipur saw significant participation from women, alongside a meeting of the Women’s Front. Speakers hailed the Act as a historic step towards women’s political empowerment.
District President Gajpal Singh Rathore highlighted that the Act was passed in a special session under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He noted that women’s participation in Parliament was merely 4% at the time of independence, which increased to 15% in 2019. With this new legislation, a 33% reservation for women has been ensured from the Panchayat level to Parliament.
Dr. Alka Mundra, the chief speaker and State Vice President, described the Nari Shakti Vandan Act as a herald of a new era. She emphasized that it marks a milestone in women’s empowerment, making policy-making more sensitive, inclusive, and effective. Women will now be integral to decision-making processes rather than just beneficiaries. Dr. Mundra mentioned that the central government has implemented several schemes for women’s empowerment over the past decade. Initiatives like the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign have shifted societal attitudes, while the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana has provided financial security for daughters.
The program also announced plans for a Nari Shakti conference, a two-wheeler rally, street plays, and a social media campaign in support of the Act. The event was conducted by Dr. Seema Champawat, with gratitude expressed by Women’s Front President Kavita Joshi. Several public representatives and Women’s Front officials were present at the occasion.
