Abbas Araqchi Criticizes US Claims, Cites Vietnam War Lessons

New Delhi, March 21: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has launched a sharp attack on the United States, asserting that there is a significant gap between American claims and the ground reality. Drawing parallels with the Vietnam War, he accused the US of employing similar strategies to conceal the truth today. Araqchi warned that if Iran’s infrastructure is attacked, Tehran will respond decisively without restraint.

He recalled how, during the Vietnam War, despite hundreds of American soldiers being killed and the outcome of the war being clear, General William Westmoreland was flown back to assure the public that the war was going well and that America was “winning.”

Araqchi stated that the script remains unchanged, only the stage has shifted; today, figures like Pete Hegseth present messages that are still far from reality. In a post on the social media platform X, he remarked, “The US government says one thing, and the reality is something else.”

He further noted, “At the very moment when American officials claim that Iran’s air defenses have been neutralized, an F-35 aircraft is shot down. When they declare that Iran’s navy is completely destroyed, the USS Gerald Ford returns, and the USS Abraham Lincoln moves even further away.”

Araqchi sarcastically pointed out that while the decade may have changed, the mantra remains the same: “We are winning.” He emphasized that Iranians are principled individuals who do not strike their enemies from the shadows during negotiations. “We respond forcefully only when we are attacked,” he stated.

He also claimed to have intelligence regarding Israeli plans to attack Iran’s infrastructure, reiterating that if such an attack occurs, Iran will not exercise any restraint.
