Irans President Praises Azerbaijan as a Brotherhood Nation

New Delhi, April 4: Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian has expressed appreciation for the support and sympathy shown by the government and people of Azerbaijan during a conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, Pezeshkian stated, “In my conversation with my brother, President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, I acknowledged the sympathy and support from the Azerbaijani government and its people. Brotherhood nations stand by each other in difficult times, and the deeper the cultural roots of these relations, the stronger the bond becomes.”

He also referenced discussions with former Azerbaijani President Heydar Aliyev in another post, expressing gratitude for the support shown by the Azerbaijani Republic’s government and its people. “Brotherhood nations recognize each other in times of difficulty and crisis; the deeper the cultural roots of these relations, the more robust the bond becomes,” he added.

Pezeshkian had previously stated that the Iranian people hold no animosity towards the American people, while accusing the U.S. administration of acting as a proxy for Israel against Iran. He emphasized, “The Iranian people do not harbor hostility towards any nation, including those from America, Europe, or neighboring countries.”

He further noted that despite facing foreign interventions and pressures throughout their glorious history, Iranians have always distinguished between governments and their people. Pezeshkian remarked that Iran has never chosen the path of aggression, expansionism, colonialism, or dominance, despite enduring occupation, invasion, and pressure from global powers.
