Israel Launches Airstrikes in Tehran and Isfahan

New Delhi, March 21: Reports from Iran’s Fars News Agency indicate that at least two explosions were heard in Tehran on Saturday morning. Airstrikes were also reported in Shahre-Rey, located south of the capital, and in Karaj, to the west of the city.

Additionally, a separate airstrike was reported in the historic central city of Isfahan. There have been no immediate reports of casualties or damage from the attacks. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the strikes, stating they targeted positions of the Islamic Republic regime in Tehran.

The IDF issued an evacuation notice for seven areas in the southern suburbs of Beirut, warning that attacks on Hezbollah infrastructure would continue. According to information shared on the social media platform X, the IDF is also conducting strikes on the Lebanese capital. Al Jazeera reported that over 1,000 people, including many women and children, have been killed in Lebanon since the escalation of Israeli attacks on March 2.

Earlier this week, the IDF claimed to have killed Ismail Ahmadi, the chief of Iran’s Basij intelligence, along with another senior intelligence officer. The IDF had previously expressed doubts about Ahmadi’s status, but has now confirmed his death.

The IDF stated, “Earlier this week, the air force targeted senior leadership of the Basij unit in central Tehran, resulting in the deaths of unit commander Gholamreza Soleimani and several other senior commanders.”

Israel has accused Ahmadi of playing a “special role” in the government’s crackdown on large-scale protests that erupted in Iran earlier this year, which reportedly resulted in thousands of deaths.

Israel’s ongoing attacks are part of efforts to weaken the Iranian regime’s grip on power, with several high-ranking Iranian officials, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, security chief Ali Larijani, and intelligence minister Ismail Khatib, having been killed in these strikes.
