A special seminar was organized by the Income Tax Department to inform the policemen about the provisions of legal exemption while filing the income tax return at the Sardar Patel Police Auditorium on Ratanada Police Line. In this seminar, the high officials of the Income Tax Department said that the department can take action and seizure action on taking wrong exemption.
In fact, this seminar was organized by Jodhpur Investigation Wing led by Joint Income Tax Director (Investigation) Prerna Chaudhary, especially for officers and employees of the police department. Assistant Director (Investigation) Unit-1 Balbir Singh Meena of Jodhpur, Assistant Director (Investigation) Unit-2 Naresh Kumar of Jodhpur and Income Tax Officer (Investigation) Jodhpur Narendra Sankhla also shared their experiences with police officers and employees in the seminar. Under this, the policemen were given detailed information about various exemption received under the statutory provisions ranging from Section 80C to 80U. These include tax exemption received under Life Insuration, Provident Fund, National Savings Certificate, Home Loan Principal, Education Loan, Medical Insurance, Disability Rebate and many other schemes. Officials said that while filling the income tax return, which documents require taxpayers and under which circumstances can be claimed. With this, policemen will be able to avoid taking wrong relaxation while filling their returns. He explained what kind of mistakes are generally made by giving examples of real affairs.
AI is being caught for fraud
Income Tax Assistant Director Balbir Singh Meena gave detailed information about the search and seizure done by the Income Tax Department due to the wrong exemption. He informed that the department is now closely examining every return through data analytics and artificial intelligence. If someone has claimed exemption on the basis of wrong documents, then the department takes immediate action. He said that many times the taxpayers claim inadvertently or deliberately for which they are not eligible. For example, no one really invested but showed in returns, or claimed a discount based on fake documents. In such cases, the department not only collects outstanding tax but also imposes fine and interest.
Doubts were also solved
In the seminar, police officers and employees were given the opportunity to keep their problems related to income tax returns. Income tax officials resolved all his doubts and also provided guidance in personal matters. When many policemen asked about rectifying the mistakes made in previous years returns, the authorities also explained the process of filing a revised return.
