New Delhi, March 12: Following the temporary closure of Kuwait’s airspace, the Indian Embassy has taken proactive measures to assist Indian citizens residing in or traveling to Kuwait. Several airlines are working to resume their flight operations in the Middle East.
In this context, India’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Parmita Tripathi, held a virtual meeting with representatives from Jazeera Airways to review the current status of flights and emphasize the need for safe travel for Indian nationals.
The closure of Kuwait’s airspace has necessitated an assessment of the flight situation for Indian citizens traveling to and from the country. The Ambassador highlighted the importance of facilitating the return of Indians to their homeland, stating that the safety and welfare of the Indian community in Kuwait is the Embassy’s top priority.
Meanwhile, IndiGo Airlines is in discussions with relevant authorities to gradually resume its flight services in the Middle East, ensuring the safe return of stranded Indian citizens. IndiGo has announced that it will operate flights to nine destinations in the Middle East on March 12, 2026, along with some special routes to Europe, depending on the prevailing security conditions and necessary regulatory approvals.
The airline has advised customers that flight schedules may change unexpectedly and that their team is reaching out to affected customers to assist with alternative travel arrangements. For additional assistance or inquiries, customers can contact the customer service center at +91 124 6173838.
Additionally, the Indian Embassy in Qatar has reported the safe return of over 500 Indian citizens who arrived in New Delhi and other locations on a Qatar Airways flight on March 11. Qatar Airways is set to operate two flights to India on March 12, one each to New Delhi and Mumbai.
The Embassy is prioritizing the expedited issuance of passports for Indian citizens. Due to the current situation, the Embassy will remain open for passport applications every day of the week, with urgent passports being issued within 1-2 days.
Citizens are advised to take alerts and warnings issued through official channels seriously and to follow necessary guidelines. It is recommended that individuals avoid approaching any unknown objects, debris, or fragments and report such instances immediately by calling 999.
